The traditional annual lunch meeting at Cottage Inn on May 12 was as delicious and successful as ever.  People were in and out by a few minutes after 1:00 pm.  What an efficient group!

The 30+ attendees introduced themselves briefly and new members were welcomed.  Outgoing president Suzanne Sukkar recapped the year.  Judge Darlene O'Brien administered the oath of office to the new officers.  New president Angela Walker spoke from the heart about what WLAM Washtenaw Region has meant to her and done for her career in the past six years, and what she would like to accomplish in 2010-2011.  These goals include expanding the nature of our events to include joint events with other business and professional women's groups and partnering with other WLAM Regions on events. 

 The new officers are:  president Angela Walker, vice president Beth Wickwire, treasurer Erane Washington and secretary Rosemary Frenza.  Amy Reiser is the new regional director on the WLAM state board of directors.

Washtenaw Region members bowled their hearts out for kids in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon on March 20 at Colonial Lanes.  WLAM's teams were just part of the Washtenaw County Bar Association's participation in the bowl-a-thon.  Over 140 WCBA & WLAM members and their families attended the event and raised more than $10,000 for BB/BS in Washtenaw County!

Elections expert and professor Jocelyn Benson spoke about protecting fair elections at the speaker lunch on April 28 at Vinology in downtown Ann Arbor.  She is the author of a new book entitled "State Secretaries of State:  Guardians of the Democratic Process" and was recently selected to be the Democratic candidate for Michigan Secretary of State.

A great turnout, Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly, and the professional sounding entertainment during the social hour by the Community High School Jazz Program made this year's annual joint dinner meeting with the Wasthtenaw County Bar Association a huge success.
