Member Profile: Hon. Janet Neff
The Honorable Janet Neff is this year's recipient of the WLAM Western Region Outstanding Member Award. Judge Neff has worked tirelessly to advance the causes of others while managing to rise to success at a time when women did not have doors readily opened for them.
In 1989 Judge Neff was elected to the Michigan Court of Appeals, where she remains to this day. She also has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Department of Justice, Commissioner with the Michigan Supreme Court and Special Assistant Attorney General for the Second Injury Fund.
Judge Neff 's resume is diverse and impressive, as are her contributions to the community she serves. As an advocate for women, she is listed on many Boards of Directors and as the first woman president of the Grand Rapids Bar Association in 1989-90. Perhaps most notable is the Habitat for Humanity "Women Building the Dream" Project.
