Annual Lawyers v Judges Softball Game Was A Hit! See Photos.

July 7 may've been the hottest day of the year but the weather didn't stop more than 50 people from coming to the annual lawyers v judges softball game!

The "judges" team prevailed in a closer game than usual, 12-5, but everyone had a great time, especially those who found some time to stand in the shade.

Judge Chris Easthope coached the "judges" team (it had a lot of lawyers on it!) and pitched a complete game.  Judge Don Shelton umped a good game, while Court of Appeals Judge Doug Shapiro was tough at catcher and refused to hear appeals.  Judge Cedric Simpson and Judge Charlie Pope showed off their power at the plate, while Judge Libby Hines cheered every play from a cool spot on the bleachers.  Reitred Judge Elden and his wife faithfully cheered on the craziness from the shade.

Thank you to Assistant Prosecutor John Reiser and lawyer Mark Heusel for foregoing their analyst/color commentary roles in the broadcasting tent to help out the judges team. Thanks also to Washtenaw County Legal News editor and photographer Frank Weir for his pre game day publicity, for covering the event so tirelessly and for helping cart the coolers and load and unload the truck.  We still want to see you bat, Frank!

Donations for the American Cancer Society are still coming in.  The count from the donations collected at the food table (in lieu of paying for your hot dog/beverage/chips and from non-members who played) was $141.  Thank you, everyone!
